Being gluten or wheat intolerant is difficult enough – without having to compromise on taste when you do find something you can eat. Belle and Wilde was born from just this experience and is the brainchild of mother and daughter duo Grail and Annabelle. “I was studying at University and became really ill,” explains Annabelle. “I stopped eating gluten altogether and it made me feel a whole lot better. But I couldn’t find bread in the supermarket that had a decent taste and wasn’t full of preservatives. I still remember the day I was discussing it with mum, and she just said, ‘well, let’s start a business then.’

Belle & Wilde has grown from baking that first bread to producing a wide range of delicious gluten-free and wheat-free products made with fresh, natural ingredients and no preservatives. They are also suitable for vegetarians, and some are vegan-friendly too. Says Grail, “We really understand how frustrating it is to know that you can’t eat the same food as the rest of your family. And that the food you can eat is likely to require you to compromise on taste.

Belle & Wilde Artisan Bread is made in small batches and flash frozen on the day that it is baked. This ensures it maintains its freshly baked flavour. The bread is sliced and then packed in a handy bag for you to store in the fridge after defrosting. See our stockists for where to buy locally to you.
